Another Survey Site Bites The Dust...

Well, I can't say it any better than they can, so here's the email I was sent from PermissionResearch this past week...not sure how many Gather members are affected~I know I've been with this site at least 4-5 years, probably longer. I was aware PR & OpinionSquare were connected~their surveys were exactly the same. What kinda bothers me is that PR is merging into OS, since PR appears to be the more dominant site (I rarely get OS surveys).


Once upon a time, I belonged to almost 2 dozen survey sites, & have (or had) whittled it down to 7, & I may be weaning that # down, too. What did the survey sites in was all the 3rd-party "pretend" sites, that really weren't all that legit~they provided links along with the bogus crap they were selling & people got confused, not to mention distrustful.

 

So, kudos to PR for providing ample notice, nearly 2 months~I'm near cash-out, so hoping I can do that before March 31st...

Just tracked down my PermissionResearch site welcome, dated 12/7/07~I'm sure if I track down the payments, it wasn't worth 5+ years!

OMG, I've been a member there forever, or so it seems! As a matter of fact, I just did 2 or 3 different surveys within the last week or two......nothing was mentioned to me about PR going out, or merging with Opinion Square.......am very, very close to cashing out.....I've cashed out numerous times there, but only like for $5 or $10 cashouts. I never really realized that both PR and OS were related, as generally, I did surveys for one or the other......
How terribly disappointing, but, with the economy as bad as it is, it seems like many places are shutting down......rewards programs included.
Thanks for posting this......like I said, I've not gotten word yet!

I saved it, so I'll check on the date of the email~it was a few days ago, so I'm surprised they haven't alerted all their members. Probably to prevent a mass cash-out~I'm about 80 pts. from cashing out & something tells me I won't be getting any more surveys...

I think I joined them at one point but almost never got any work so quit bothering with them. It sure doesn't seem like there are very many legitimate sites left. I'm also sick of wasting 20-30 minutes on a survey on some sites only to be told that I didn't qualify and would get nothing or all of a sudden the survey would "lock up" at that point. Some are absolute scams. I've quit a bunch of sites.

That's why I've remained with sites like Ipsos, My Survey, Harris Poll since they do award pts. even if you're DQ'd. I also like YouGov~I don't recall ever being DQ'd from any of their polls.
I'm was a member of Opinions Rewards, but not the two you mentioned.

Opinion Rewards is an example of the "3rd-party "pretend" sites" I mentioned~they're not real survey sites, i.e. market research sites, which are sites where you'll see no ads, referral links (to other sites), etc. Some do have their own games to win extra pts. or sweepstakes~it's the 3rd party sites that give the legit survey sites a bad rap.

I don't do survey sites. I tried once or twice to seek out some of the sites but as soon as they saw my age they told me that they had "nothing" for me .... LOL! They want younger individuals, us old folks opinions don't count....... Awhahahahaha! I'm so sorry that they are closing and I hope it won't cause you any hardship. I've read where other sites are also closing. It's just gotta be an economy related thing. Hope you can cash out before the final day, and I hope they will still pay you.

I've received fewer requests (& more DQ's) since I turned a year older last summer, and I've dropped many sites because of it. The 5 or 6 that I stay with are fairly consistant~after all, baby boomers still have some clout!

I am with both companies but never get any emails from PR. I get emails from Opinion Square rather frequently. Thanks for letting us know.

I unsubscribed to OS a few months ago, so now it won't matter~haven't had any luck with survey sites merging...remember SurveySpot (now Toluna), ZoomPanel, Greenfield? They all merged, & it was never the same.
