I heard a few other sites were having this problem with Chrome as well. from what i gathered it was actually a false positive rather than a real virus.

I am using Chrome and just access the home page just fine. So, what the issue was. It is either fixed. Or not on my end....yet. But thanks for the heads up!

I heard somebody using Chrome complaining about that on Face Book, about it doing that to them here at gather.

Every once in awhile my McAffee tells me sites that I have been to over and over are dangerous...

I have Norton & ran a Quick Scan right after & nothing came up~it was from Google, as you can see from the graphic.

Google is one of the most intrusive entities on the Internet. For instance, if you do a Google search, there are anywhere from 20 to 30 unauthorized scripts that will be running in the background. They are searching for and sharing your information as you navigate from one site to another. I have a super beefed up security and I not only can see the scripts, but they are prevented from intruding into my navigation. The same applies to Facebook and Twitter. You would be amazed at what is running in the background if you do not stop it.

I rarely search thru Google, even 'tho I use Chrome~I do most of my searches thru pay sites. I don't do Twitter, but had no doubt about FB, given the loading issues & all the $$$ that dweeb is raking in! I actually feel like I'm being stalked on FB, I click on an ad in my Yahoo email, and lo & behold, I'll see the same ad, sometimes the same exact item, on my FB page. It happens here on Gather, too~most sites are culprits in the "info sharing" fiasco~the price we pay for a "free internet!"

Hi, August Lady...You mentioned that you use Norton, so that is certainly a plus as far as Internet safety is concerned...I use it, as well...

That was actually part of the discussion, Vic...the fact that FB signs people up for "membership" & logs them in to FB w/o their permission because of the "partnerships" they have with other companies to "improve your browsing experience."

My identity was stolen a few years ago via a simple phone call, but it didn't get really out of hand until my mother gave my main email address to FB {after I repeatedly asked her not to give it out}--then they started hitting my bank account directly. It's hard to understand why lawmakers repeatedly allow this type of spying on people--come to think of it, I guess it's not, it's all about money.

I had all sorts of troubles today accessing Gather and when I would be able to open a Gather page, the page was truncated and/or I couldn't comment and also had troubles being able to accept content to my groups...

Seems alright now...but pages are loading way slower than ever...

Awww!! I love you too! We always have nice conversations...guess that's why they last so long, LOL. Plus, it gave me the chance to focus on making a killer spaghetti sauce for the next day. :-)
